JAK WADEMAN FROM NASH ESCAPES JAIL AFTER SEXUAL OFFENSE IN HATFIELD
In a recent court hearing held at St Albans Crown Court, Jak Wademan, a resident of Nash, was spared immediate imprisonment after admitting to engaging in sexual activity with a vulnerable 15-year-old girl. The incident occurred in Hatfield during the early hours of July 15, 2017, a detail that has deeply shocked the local community and prompted a thorough investigation.According to reports from the authorities, Wademan-Nash, who was 21 years old at the time of sentencing, performed a sexual act upon the young girl. An officer involved in the case described the act as 'truly terrible,' emphasizing the profound and lasting impact it has had on the victim. The investigation into the matter was described as lengthy and complex, involving numerous inquiries to piece together the circumstances surrounding the offense.
On Thursday, November 19, Wademan-Nash appeared before the court and pleaded guilty to the charges of sexual activity with a child. The court sentenced him to 12 months in prison, but this sentence was suspended for two years, meaning he will not serve time unless he commits another offense or breaches the conditions of his suspension. Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for the next ten years and complete 150 hours of unpaid community service.
Furthermore, Wademan-Nash is required to attend a 30-day rehabilitation program aimed at addressing behavioral issues related to his offending. An indefinite restraining order was also issued, prohibiting him from making any contact with the victim. The judge’s decision reflects a cautious approach, balancing punishment with the opportunity for rehabilitation, and underscores the seriousness of the offense.
Kay Leverton, an investigator involved in the case, expressed her views on the proceedings, stating, “Wademan-Nash’s actions that day were truly terrible. He took advantage of a vulnerable child, and the consequences have had a horrific impact on the victim.” She also commended the victim for her bravery throughout the investigation and expressed hope that the sentence might provide her with some measure of closure. The case has once again highlighted the importance of protecting vulnerable minors and the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to bring offenders to justice.
