ABERDEEN SEX OFFENDER'S PRISON EXTENDED AFTER HOMEMADE WEAPONS FOUND IN CELL
A violent sex offender from Aberdeen, Jahmarley Michaud, who was convicted of multiple heinous crimes including repeated rape, attempted murder, assault, and abusive conduct, has seen his prison sentence extended after being found with homemade weapons in his cell.Michaud, 21, was initially sentenced to 13 years after a High Court in Aberdeen found him "very dangerous" and "callous in the extreme".
He was sent to Polmont Young Offender’s Institution in Stirlingshire in September.
According to Falkirk Sheriff Court, within days of beginning his sentence, prison officers discovered two blades hidden in his cell; one was a burnt razor blade concealed inside a toothbrush, and another was a piece of cutlery wrapped in metal, hidden behind a radiator.
Michaud reportedly told authorities, “You have to do what you have to do.” During the hearing, he pleaded guilty to having these bladed weapons.
The court imposed an additional six months’ imprisonment to be served consecutively to his existing sentence, emphasizing the seriousness of further offenses in detention.
Michaud’s criminal history involves a campaign of abusive cruelty toward female victims, including prolonged physical assault, threats to kill, and multiple sexual assaults.
One victim was subjected to punches, kicks, dragging, threats, and had her hair pulled out during an assault.
Michaud also threatened to kill a second woman, locking her inside her home, punching her, throttling her, and holding a pan of hot cooking oil.
He was brought up in the Caribbean before moving to Aberdeen.
The court highlighted the disturbing nature of his offenses, which included attempting to murder his first victim on two separate occasions in 2020 through smothering and throttling.
Michaud also claimed the sex acts were consensual, denying assault, claiming there was "play fighting" instead.
The court showed photos of his victim with hair pulled from her scalp during the attack.
Michaud has been linked to other incidents including a court case for indecent videos, a recent charge for a sexual offence against a pupil, and multiple other violent and criminal behaviors.
The judge emphasized that further offending of this severity would be met with stringent consequences, underscoring the gravity of his dangerous behavior.
