EXETER MAN RECEIVES SUSPENDED SENTENCE FOR DOMESTIC STRANGULATION
The report details an incident involving Jacob Archer, a 21-year-old resident of Kentisbeare, who exhibited aggressive behavior following a football match. After returning home under the influence of cannabis, Archer targeted his former partner, repeatedly grabbing her by the throat and strangulating her.
Court records indicate that Archer's behavior changed once his friends went to bed, as he yelled insults and physically grabbed her neck with one hand.
Police attended the scene at 4:40 am and found the victim with scratches and redness on her neck.
Archer admitted guilt to the charge of intentional strangulation during his court hearing at Exeter Crown Court and was sentenced to a two-year period of suspension.
Additionally, he was ordered to complete 300 hours of unpaid community service, pay £1,500 in compensation, and wear an alcohol monitoring device for four months.
The judge noted that Archer's parents could potentially assist with payment of the compensation, stating that if his family is willing to help, it would be acceptable, and Archer would be responsible for reimbursing them.
