Jack Vincent Lane, aged 23 from Hangersley, Ringwood, received a prison sentence at Bournemouth Crown Court on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, after being convicted of three charges related to sexual activity with a minor.Lane had met a teenage boy from Poole several times between March 2017, when the victim was 14 years old, and July 2017.
The two shared an interest in cars and attended various car meetups together, including events in Poole, London, Hampshire, Wiltshire, and Northamptonshire.
Their communication also included Facebook and text messaging.
In July 2017, they traveled to a car event in Ringwood, where Lane touched his victim inappropriately inside the car.
The pair also visited a car show in Devon, and during the return journey, Lane again inappropriately touched the boy.
When confronted, Lane claimed these incidents were accidental.
The victim revealed these offences to his mother in November 2017.
Following an investigation, Lane was interviewed in April 2018, and analysis of his electronic devices uncovered messages containing sexual content and references to sexual acts.
As a result, Lane was sentenced to 12 months in prison, issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order valid for 10 years, and registered as a sex offender for the same duration.
