OFFENDER CAUGHT IN ONLINE STING OVER CHILD ABUSE INTEREST
Jack Searle, a 32-year-old man, participated in an online sting operation where he revealed a sexual interest in children between the ages of six and ten.He confessed to having touched a young girl and coordinated with an undercover police officer to have sex with a fictitious granddaughter.
Searle pleaded guilty to charges of attempted sexual communication with a minor and facilitating a child sexual offence.
He received a three-year prison sentence, which was suspended for three years, and is now subject to a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order as well as being listed on the Sex Offenders' Register.
The court emphasized the gravity of his actions, noting that he believed the child was real and that he expressed a desire to see abuse occur.
His sentence includes requirements for rehabilitation, unpaid work, and close supervision.
