JACK OXBY FROM HUTHWAITE AND HOLSWORTHY CAUGHT WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
In a disturbing case that unfolded over several years, Jack Oxby, a man residing in Huthwaite and formerly of Clegg Hill Drive, Huthwaite, was found to possess a significant collection of indecent images of children on his home computer.The investigation began when authorities seized his computer three years ago, leading to the discovery of more than 70 illicit images stored within the device.
Initially, Oxby denied any involvement with such material, claiming he had no indecent images on his computer.
However, forensic experts conducted a thorough analysis of the software and files on his device, revealing a disturbing cache of 71 images depicting children in various compromising and abusive situations.
Among these images was one of a girl who appeared to be tied up, a detail that underscored the severity of the material found.
The images were classified with one at level five, indicating the most serious category of child exploitation content.
When confronted with the evidence, Oxby, who was then living in Huthwaite, admitted to the authorities that he had viewed the images alone and had not shared them with anyone.
His full and frank admissions came after the authorities presented the findings, which confirmed his possession of the illicit material.
During the court proceedings at Nottingham Crown Court, the prosecution, led by Michael Auty, outlined the details of the case.
Auty stated, "He said he was attracted solely to girls and the age of girls was between eight and 14 years." This statement highlighted the disturbing nature of Oxby’s preferences and the seriousness of his actions.
Oxby, who is married and currently resides in a caravan in Devon, faced multiple charges.
He pleaded guilty to 14 counts of making indecent photographs of children and one count of possessing such images.
His guilty plea reflects acknowledgment of the gravity of his offenses.
As part of his sentence, Oxby has been placed under a sexual offenders’ prevention order, which imposes strict conditions on his contact with minors and his use of the internet.
Additionally, he will be required to register as a sex offender for the next five years, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
In mitigation, Adrian Reynolds, representing Oxby, stated, "He has sought help during the long period since he was arrested," indicating that Oxby has taken steps towards addressing his issues.
The case remains a stark reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable victims from harm.
