PET OWNER AWAITS SENTENCE AFTER DOG NEGLECT LED TO DEATH
A SALTCOATS man is awaiting sentence after he admitted neglecting his dog in Muirkirk, causing the pet to require euthanasia.
Jack Lockwood pleaded guilty to causing a Staffordshire bull terrier cross-type dog called Pepper unnecessary suffering while being a person responsible for the animal.
The 31-year-old failed to provide her with adequate veterinary treatment for dental and ear disease and fleas at his then address in Stoneyhill Avenue, Muirkirk between June 29, 2021 and January 24, 2022.
Court papers stated that the offence caused the dog to suffer and require euthanasia.
Defence solicitor Tony Currie told the court there had been a non-production letter - with no social reports.
Sentencing was deferred for Lockwood, now of Argyle Road, Saltcoats, to next month with the court still to consider a disqualification order on owning pets.
