MAN JAILED FOR LIFE AFTER KILLING GRANDFATHER IN BRUTAL ATTACK
Jack Forde, aged 25, received a life sentence with a minimum term of 10 years and five months after being convicted of the severe murder of his 74-year-old grandfather, Christopher Martin, in New Cross, London.
The killing took place at the elderly man's residence during the early hours of 28 May 2021.
Prior to this incident, Forde was subject to a supervision order due to two separate attacks involving knives on unidentified individuals.
Court proceedings revealed that shortly before the murder, Forde had stabbed two different men in separate altercations.
He admitted to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility and was acquitted of murder due to insanity.
Forde was sentenced to a two-year supervision order but failed to comply, as he did not follow prescribed medication instructions.
The court described the injuries inflicted as 'truly horrific,' noting that Forde poured boiling water over Mr Martin’s head while he was found slumped in a cupboard, and Forde told him to 'Burn in hell.' The motivation for the killing was linked to personal issues, including Forde’s upset over Mr Martin assisting his pregnant ex-girlfriend with moving.
The court highlighted Forde’s troubled history, including prior convictions and a difficult upbringing linked to his mother’s drug use during pregnancy.
