IWAN WALKER FROM SARON JAILED FOR INVOLVEMENT IN RURAL SEX PARTY NEAR LLANDYSLUL

In April 2013, a disturbing case emerged involving Iwan Walker, a resident of Penlon, Saron, near Llandysul, who was convicted of facilitating a sexual encounter involving a 13-year-old boy at a clandestine sex gathering in the remote countryside of West Wales. Walker, aged 24 at the time, faced a jury at Swansea Crown Court, which unanimously found him guilty of serious charges related to the incident.

The court heard that Walker had taken the young boy to a sex party held in the rural areas surrounding Llandysul, an event that was clearly intended for adult sexual activities. Despite Walker’s claims that he believed the boy to be older, the judge, Paul Thomas, dismissed this assertion as “laughable,” emphasizing that Walker had known the boy for several years and was fully aware of his age. The judge pointed out that Walker’s actions demonstrated a reckless disregard for the boy’s age and innocence, especially given that he had knowingly brought him to a gathering where the primary purpose was for sexual encounters with adult women.

Specifically, Walker was accused of delivering the boy into a setting where the moral standards were grossly inappropriate for someone of his age. The court noted that Walker’s conduct was not only irresponsible but also morally reprehensible, leading to his sentencing of four years in prison. Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender with the police, a status that will remain until further notice.

The incident unfolded when the boy was staying overnight at Walker’s caravan home. During this time, Walker engaged in text message exchanges with Bryan James Eccleston, a 32-year-old man from Wind Street, Llandysul. Eccleston had previously sent messages encouraging the boy to engage in sexual activity with his partner, Emmanie Louise Angela Hughes, aged 31, who also resided at the same address. The situation escalated when the group arrived at the location, and it was revealed that Peter Sweetman, aged 32 from Cawdor Terrace, Newcastle Emlyn, was already present.

The court was shown evidence that Hughes consented to the boy losing his virginity to her, and the two went upstairs where they engaged in sexual intercourse. During this act, Eccleston reportedly entered the room and commented on the boy’s performance, saying he was doing a “good job.” Police later recovered a video recording of the encounter, which captured the sexual activity and the presence of the other individuals involved.

Hughes admitted to police that she did not typically ask for identification and claimed she was unaware of the boy’s true age until she was at Aberystwyth Police Station, two days after her arrest. She expressed her horror upon discovering the truth and acknowledged that her attitude towards sex might be considered “liberal” by some standards. Hughes explained to the court that she believed the boy was at least 16, as he had told her, and she had no reason to doubt his words. She also stated that she initiated the sexual activity and was the first to invite him upstairs, with Eccleston arriving later to check on him.

The prosecution, led by James Jenkins, emphasized that the evidence clearly showed the group’s active encouragement and participation in the sexual acts involving the underage boy. The police interviews revealed that the boy felt pressured by Eccleston to engage in sex with Hughes, and he recounted that Eccleston had entered the room during the act and praised his performance. The court also reviewed the video footage, which confirmed that Hughes was engaged in sexual activity with Walker while Eccleston, Sweetman, and the boy were present in the same room.

Both Hughes and the other defendants claimed ignorance of the boy’s true age, asserting that had they known, they would not have engaged in any sexual activity. Hughes maintained that she believed the boy was older and that she was not in the habit of asking for identification. The case highlighted the disturbing nature of the incident and the serious legal consequences faced by those involved, especially given the vulnerability of the young victim and the illegal nature of their actions.
