The case was heard at Hove Crown Court, where the 41-year-old offender was handed a prison sentence of four years. In addition to his imprisonment, Amponsah, who resides at Strand Parade in Goring, was issued a restraining order that prohibits him from any contact with the victim in this case. He will also be registered for life on the sex offenders register, a measure designed to monitor and manage his conduct long after his release from prison.
The investigation into the incident was led by Officer Amber Evans, who expressed her hope that this outcome would serve to reassure the public about the seriousness with which such offenses are treated. She emphasized that reports of sexual crimes are thoroughly and diligently investigated, encouraging other victims to come forward without fear.
Officer Evans commended the bravery of the victim, who played a crucial role throughout the legal process. The victim not only reported the incident but also supported the investigation and prosecution, providing critical evidence in court. Her willingness to testify was instrumental in ensuring justice was served.
