EDMONTON PAEDOPHILE IMRAN SALEEM SENTENCED FOR ABUSING 10-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN SHOCKING CASE

In a disturbing case that has shocked the Edmonton community, Imran Saleem, aged 35, has been convicted and sentenced for the abduction and sexual assault of a ten-year-old girl with learning difficulties. The incident took place on October 11, 2018, and has since garnered significant attention from law enforcement and the public alike.

According to court reports, Saleem was seen by witnesses in Edmonton, where he was residing at the time, as he spotted the young girl playing alone in the street. Demonstrating manipulative behavior, Saleem approached her with offers of chocolate biscuits and cake, which he used to lure her back to his residence. Once inside his home, Saleem committed a sexual assault against the child, an act that would have lasting repercussions for the victim and her family.

The child's parents became aware of the assault when she returned home and confided in them about what had happened. Distressed and alarmed by her account, they immediately contacted the police to report the incident. Law enforcement officials responded swiftly, initiating an investigation that ultimately led to Saleem's arrest and subsequent prosecution.

During the legal proceedings at Wood Green Crown Court, Saleem was found guilty of multiple charges, including abducting a child, sexual assault of a child under 13, engaging in sexual activity with a child, and assault of a child under 13 by penetration. The evidence against him was compelling, notably including DNA analysis that left him with no viable defense. As a result, Saleem pleaded guilty to all charges, acknowledging his guilt in the face of the overwhelming evidence.

The court sentenced Saleem to a term of ten years in prison. Additionally, upon his release, he will be subject to a three-year extended licence period, during which he will be closely monitored to prevent any further offenses. The court also imposed a sexual harm prevention order to restrict Saleem's activities and interactions, aiming to protect the community from potential future harm.

Anja Hohmeyer, representing the Crown Prosecution Service, emphasized the gravity of the crime, stating, “This was an opportunistic attack on a vulnerable and innocent young girl. The prosecution case included DNA evidence and was so strong that Saleem had no choice but to plead guilty. The CPS takes crimes against young people extremely seriously and will prosecute offenders.”

The case has highlighted the importance of vigilance and swift action in protecting children from predators, and the community continues to support efforts to ensure safety and justice for victims of such heinous crimes.
