COMPTON BISHOP MAN IAN WOODWARD SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSES IN TAUNTON
In a recent court proceeding held at Taunton Crown Court, Ian Woodward, a 54-year-old resident of Compton Bishop, was formally sentenced after admitting to possessing indecent images of children.The offenses spanned a period of approximately ten months, during which Woodward was found to have stored these illicit images on his personal computer.
Woodward pleaded guilty to three separate counts related to the possession of such images, which he had on his device between March 1, 2017, and January 9, 2018.
The court's decision came after a thorough review of the evidence presented, leading to a sentencing that emphasizes both punishment and rehabilitation.
As part of his sentence, Woodward was ordered to complete a three-year community order, which includes mandatory attendance at a sex offender treatment program and participation in various rehabilitation activities aimed at addressing his behavior.
Additionally, he was required to pay costs amounting to £200, payable at a rate of £5 per week, reflecting the court's effort to balance punitive measures with support for reintegration.
In a move to prevent future offenses, the court also mandated the forfeiture of the computer used to store the illicit images.
Furthermore, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order was imposed against Woodward, restricting his activities and contact for a period of ten years.
