Redcar man sentenced to 18 years for attempted murder of pregnant partner

Ian Froom, aged 48, who lives in Westfield Court, Redcar, was found guilty of attempting to murder his pregnant partner following a violent incident in April 2019. The case was heard at Teesside Crown Court, where Froom was convicted on October 1 and received a prison sentence of 18 years. Throughout the trial, Froom maintained his innocence regarding some of the charges. Detective Chief Inspector Cath Galloway praised the bravery of the victim, emphasizing the traumatic impact the incident had on her and her children. She pointed out that Froom subjected them to a terrifying experience with lasting emotional effects. Galloway also commented on Froom’s violent, armed resistance during his arrest and expressed appreciation for her team’s efforts in securing the conviction. The court’s decision aims to help the victim and her family start to recover, while Froom is set to serve a lengthy prison term.
