GP DISQUALIFIED AFTER SHARING CHILD ABUSE FANTASIES WITH UNDERCOVER POLICE

A doctor who discussed child abuse fantasies with an undercover police officer has been disqualified from practicing medicine.

Huw Glover, who qualified as a doctor in 1988 and was practicing as a GP partner at Featherstone Family Health Centre in Featherstone, joined a social media group for individuals interested in paedophilia and incest.

In August 2019, posing as a 44-year-old mother of three under the pseudonym Sara Hotwife, Glover engaged in conversations where he expressed disturbing fantasies, including a willingness to share his fictional teenage daughter to be abused by adults.

He was convicted in 2023 of attempting to publish an obscene article.

Following a three-day Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service hearing, his name was erased from the medical register and he was suspended.

During the police investigation, Glover answered 'no comment' in his interview but later admitted the offences at trial.

He was arrested at his Shropshire home on 3 September 2019, and his property and workplace were both searched.

He pleaded guilty during his trial and was sentenced on 9 November 2023 to a two-year community order, with 80 hours of unpaid work and 35 days of rehabilitation activity.

The tribunal stated that although there was no evidence that his actions caused direct harm to children, his conviction posed a serious potential risk to public safety.

Glover's conduct brought disrepute to the medical profession and represented a significant breach of its ethical standards, especially regarding acting within the law.

His fitness to practice was deemed impaired, and the tribunal emphasized the lack of remorse and insight into his actions, highlighting the risk of recurrence and the need for ongoing supervision.
