HULL MAN TURNED 'MONSTER' BY CRACK COCAINE JAILED FOR VIOLENCE AGAINST EX-GIRLFRIEND
Smith, 36, of 21st Avenue, north Hull, admitted offences of intentional strangulation and using controlling and coercive behaviour.
He was convicted after a series of violent incidents which included assaulting his ex-girlfriend, holding a lighter to her face and threatening to burn her alive.
On October 11 last year, he took hold of her by the shoulders, pushed her into a kitchen door causing her to bang her head, and bit her face, breaking the skin.
Despite being bailed to avoid contact, he later went to her home, kicked the door in, and refused to leave.
The woman described living in a 'nightmare' with him, feeling like a 'shell of a woman' due to the abuse.
The court sentenced Smith to four years and two months in prison, including a consecutive one-year sentence for breaching a suspended term, and imposed a 12-year restraining order.
