SEX ATTACKER TRICKED HIS WAY INTO HOTEL ROOMS TO SEXUALLY ASSAULT WOMEN
A woman has shared that she is left with lasting “reminders of trauma” after being sexually assaulted by a man who deceived his way into hotel rooms to commit his heinous acts.Hugo Delgado, aged 22 and residing on Navestock Crescent in Woodford Green, London, received a ten-year prison sentence following convictions for assault by penetration, sexual assault, and trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence, according to the Metropolitan Police.
On the day of his sentencing, Delgado also admitted to exposure, an offence committed while he was in custody awaiting trial, specifically against a female prison officer.
His initial victim, a woman in her 50s, was targeted in a Shoreditch hotel on October 6, 2019.
Delgado falsely claimed the room was his, telling staff the same before later asserting he was the woman’s husband and claiming he left his key in the room.
Hotel staff provided Delgado with a key card, and he returned hours later to sexually assault her.
She awoke around 5am and screamed, prompting him to flee.
Less than a week later, on October 12, Delgado attacked a woman in her 20s after she had been out in Shoreditch.
She was approached by Delgado, followed, and woke to find him performing a sex act, indicating she had been sexually assaulted.
She reported the incident to police, who later located Delgado still in the hotel room and arrested him.
Further investigations showed Delgado had attempted to secure keys for two hotel rooms that same night one of which was vacant and the other was accessed with a false name.
He ultimately entered the room because the door was open.
During sentencing at Wood Green Crown Court, Delgado’s second victim delivered a powerful impact statement expressing her ongoing trauma.
She remarked that while Delgado faces prison, her own journey involves therapy, police interactions, and emotional challenges she hopes will not define her future.
She admitted she is uncertain about fully understanding what Delgado did to her and hesitated to have police disclose details.
She emphasized her awareness that no one deserves such abuse, regardless of circumstances, and highlighted how she carefully chooses her confidantes and values her principles.
Delgado was also mandated to register as a sex offender for life and will serve an additional four years on licence post-release.
Reaction to the sentence was provided by Detective Constable Rob Johnston from Sapphire Investigations, who acknowledged the removal of a highly dangerous individual from society.
He praised the bravery of the victims and stressed that their cooperation was vital in preventing further crimes.
Johnston urged other victims to come forward if they have experienced similar assaults but have not yet reported them, recognizing the profound and lasting impact such incidents can have.
