OBAN MAN SENTENCED FOR SENDING OBSCENE MESSAGES TO WOMAN
A MAN has been put under nearly three years of supervision for subjecting a family member to a stream of offensive messages and calls.
Henry Maclean, of Lochnell Road, Dunbeg, previously pleaded guilty to repeatedly sending the messages between April 1 and June 4 last year.
They were grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character in that they were of an obscene, sexualised nature.
The 37-year-old was on bail at the time.
At Dumbarton Sheriff Court on March 26, Sheriff William Gallacher said: "There's a need for ongoing supervision.
I read the nature of this charge with some horror.
We are trying to avoid any repetition." He imposed a community payback order with social work supervision for 30 months, with a conduct requirement to take treatment for mental health as required.
A review will be held at Oban Sheriff Court on May 23.
