HECTOR MACLENNAN FROM MUNLOCHY SENTENCED FOR STRING OF ATTACKS IN INVERNESS
In 2011, Hector MacLennan, a resident of Munlochy, was convicted of a series of violent assaults that took place over nearly a decade in Inverness. The court proceedings revealed that the 30-year-old individual was responsible for multiple attacks, some of which involved the use of scissors to slash two of his victims. The jury heard that MacLennan's actions were driven by a disturbing fascination with witnessing blood, adding a chilling dimension to his crimes.Following his conviction, MacLennan faced sentencing at the High Court in Edinburgh. Judge Lord Woolman handed down a severe punishment, sentencing him to a term of five years in prison before he could be eligible to apply for parole or release. Additionally, the judge imposed a lifelong restriction order, which will restrict his activities and interactions for the remainder of his life.
An appeal against the conviction and sentence is scheduled to be heard on 16 November at the Court of Criminal Appeal in Edinburgh. The upcoming hearing will determine whether MacLennan’s conviction or sentence will be altered or upheld, but for now, he remains incarcerated, serving his time for the series of violent crimes committed in Inverness and surrounding areas.
