A teenage male carried out a sexual assault on a six-year-old girl after misleading her into playing a mobile game to divert her attention.
CCTV footage documented Charlton attacking the child when he was 16 years old.
The incident has left a lasting effect on the girl, who now struggles with everyday life and has been forced to change her educational setting.
Currently 18, Harvey Charlton from Garretts Green Road, Sheldon, was found guilty of the rape.
He also admitted to additional charges, including sexually assaulting a child under 13 and performing sexual acts in front of a minor.
In court at Birmingham Crown Court, he was sentenced to a hospital order, with it noted that a learning disability influenced his conduct.
Charlton has been evaluated as having an IQ around 52, comparable to children aged nine to twelve.
He recently transitioned from a medium to a low secure unit at Brooklands Hospital in Marston Green.
Expertise from three psychiatrists determined that Charlton has a learning or intellectual disability, which one specialist described as 'mental retardation.' They also dismissed a previous diagnosis of autistic spectrum disorder as incorrect.
