Crosby Child Sexual Abuser
A resident of Crosby has been handed down a serious sentence after being found in possession of indecent images on his personal computer. Greig Peterson, aged 33, faced legal consequences following a conviction for possessing three Category C images depicting children. Despite his initial denial, claiming that the images resulted from online searches, Peterson was found guilty after a trial at Ormskirk Magistrates Court in February 2016.

During the court proceedings, documents revealed that Peterson acknowledged the indecency of the images and demonstrated some awareness of the potential dangers associated with his internet activity. The court took into account his admission, but nonetheless imposed a comprehensive set of penalties aimed at rehabilitation and punishment.

As part of his sentencing, Peterson is required to participate in an intensive 36-week sex offenders' rehabilitation programme spread over three years. Additionally, he must complete 20 days of rehabilitative activities designed to address his behavior. The court also mandated that he adhere to notification and protection orders for a period of five years, ensuring ongoing monitoring and safeguarding measures.

Beyond these measures, Peterson faces further penalties including 60 hours of unpaid community service, a financial fine, a victim surcharge, and the reimbursement of court costs. These combined sanctions reflect the seriousness with which the judicial system treats offenses involving indecent images of children, emphasizing both punishment and the importance of preventing future offenses.
