YATELEY MAN SENTENCED FOR ONLINE GROOMING AND CHILD EXPLOITATION OFFENCES.
25 October 2024 – Greg Winterton, a resident of Yateley, has been sentenced following his involvement in serious child exploitation crimes, including online grooming and sexual communication with minors.Winterton was first arrested on 21 March 2022 and re-arrested on 29 March 2024 after further evidence came to light.
His case was brought before Winchester Crown Court on 25 October 2024, where he received a custodial sentence.
Charges and Convictions Winterton was found guilty of: Online grooming Sexually communicating with children between the ages of 13 and 14 Facilitating the commission of a child sex offence Sentencing Outcome At the hearing, the court handed down the following penalties: 30-month prison sentence A £190 victim services surcharge All phones used in the offences to be forfeited and destroyed Mandatory registration with the police under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, effective from 19 July 2024 A Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) with strict conditions The case was assisted by online child protection groups, including FEUK and Broken Dreams, with involvement from volunteer decoys and researchers posing as underage children to expose Winterton’s predatory behaviour.
