GRANT MCQUEEN'S SHOCKING PAYOUT IN ARRAN: RAPE CONVICT BRAGS ABOUT WEALTH AFTER ROAD ACCIDENT
In a disturbing turn of events, Grant McQueen, a convicted sex offender from Arran, has received a substantial compensation payout of £14,500 following an incident where he was struck by a vehicle while lying intoxicated in the middle of a road. This payout, which has sparked outrage among the victim's family and the local community, was obtained through a legal claim filed by McQueen from behind bars, where he is currently serving his sentence.McQueen, now 25 years old, was sentenced in 2007 to six and a half years in prison after being convicted of raping a young girl at a holiday park on Arran. The heinous nature of his crime and the circumstances surrounding his conviction have made his recent actions and the subsequent payout a source of intense controversy. Despite his incarceration, McQueen has been able to pursue legal action, claiming that he was injured in the accident and seeking compensation for his injuries.
The incident occurred after McQueen, who had been drinking heavily, decided to lie down in the road. The accident happened in the dark, and he was hit by a car driven by a waitress named Kerry. She was subsequently fined £750 in February 2006 for careless driving related to the incident. Kerry and her friend Peter, who owned the vehicle, acted swiftly to rescue McQueen from the road, pulling him to safety and saving his life. However, McQueen, displaying a shocking sense of entitlement, chose to sue Kerry for compensation, despite her role in saving him.
When the Daily Record reported on McQueen’s lawsuit in 2008, Kerry expressed her disbelief and frustration. She stated, “I can’t believe he is sitting in jail for rape and coming after me for money. The accident wasn’t my fault. I hadn’t touched a drop of alcohol, and it could have been anyone who ran over him.” Kerry emphasized that she had no financial means to pay him and condemned his actions, asserting, “He doesn’t deserve a penny.”
Following his release from hospital after the crash, McQueen reportedly resumed drinking and was found lying in the road multiple times. Kerry described this behavior as indicative of his ongoing issues with alcohol and reckless conduct. Robin, the father of the young girl McQueen raped, who now resides in Liverpool, recounted the aftermath of the incident, revealing that a vicious mob had harassed him and Kerry on Arran. He detailed threats of violence, bricks being thrown through windows, and relentless intimidation campaigns. Robin also shared that after McQueen was charged with rape, Kerry received threatening letters urging her to have killed him, which added to her distress.
Kerry has since moved to England, living in fear that McQueen might seek her out once he is released. She has been unable to work and struggles with daily life, according to Robin. He expressed concern over her safety, saying, “She is scared McQueen will come looking for her when he gets out.” Attempts to contact Kerry for comment last night were unsuccessful, but a friend of hers criticized the payout, stating, “This is a lot of money, and someone like McQueen doesn’t deserve it. Being run over is the kind of thing you can expect if you lie sleeping in the road.”
McQueen spent several months hospitalized following the accident but eventually made a full physical recovery. The compensation was settled out of court at the Court of Session in Edinburgh, with his legal representatives confirming that the matter was resolved confidentially. Sources close to McQueen in Peterhead revealed that he quickly began spending his money on various items, including new duvets, curtains for his cell, trainers, and tracksuits. He also reportedly bought gifts for fellow inmates. McQueen, described as a physically imposing man over six feet tall with metal plates in his head and scars on his head and shoulders from the accident, remains a formidable presence in prison. Despite his injuries, he continues to participate in prison activities such as playing pool and working jail jobs, showing little sign of being hindered by his past or injuries.
