TEENAGE RAPIST SENTENCED TO 14 YEARS FOR ATTACKS ON PROSTITUTES IN WEDNESFIELD
Grant Drury, a 19-year-old from Lichfield Road, Wednesfield, was sentenced to 14 years in prison for a series of serious sexual offenses against prostitutes working on streets in the Black Country area.He was convicted of eight charges including rape, attempted rape, and other offenses intended to commit sexual crimes, as reported by Wolverhampton Crown Court.
The court heard how Drury's criminal activity was finally halted after one of his victims tried to stab him with scissors during an attack.
The police traced blood found on the scissors to Drury through DNA testing, aided by his previous conviction for robbery.
The prosecution, led by Darron Whitehead, explained that Drury was ultimately arrested following his attempt to rape another prostitute, who fought back by stabbing him with scissors, which left blood evidence linking him to the crime.
The judge ordered that Drury should remain subject to a recall to prison until he reaches the age of 40.
His criminal behavior included a pattern of strangulation and rape of prostitutes on the streets where he was raised, causing significant harm to the victims and resulting in a lengthy incarceration.
This case highlights the severity of Drury's crimes and the legal measures taken to ensure public safety and justice for the victims involved.
