TOM HEBDEN FROM ULROME INVOLVED IN SEXUAL ABUSE CASES NEAR HULL AND EAST YORKSHIRE
In a disturbing series of events that have shocked the local community, a 19-year-old man named Tom Hebden from Ulrome, East Yorkshire, has admitted to engaging in sexual abuse involving underage girls. The case unfolded shortly after his father, Graham Hebden, a 49-year-old boxing coach, was sentenced to a year in prison for a separate but related misconduct involving a young girl.Tom Hebden faced serious allegations, including 15 counts of sexual abuse against three girls aged between 13 and 15. The charges encompass a range of offenses, such as sexual activity with minors, causing minors to engage in sexual acts, and engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child. These allegations came to light during a court hearing at Hull Crown Court, where Hebden was scheduled to stand trial this week.
However, in a surprising turn of events, Hebden chose to admit guilt on the day of his trial. He pleaded guilty to 11 counts of sexual activity with a child, three counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity, and one count of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a minor. Following his plea, he was released on bail and is scheduled for sentencing next month at the same court.
Judge Simon Jack, presiding over the case, addressed Hebden directly, stating, "You have pleaded guilty and I’m going to adjourn the case for a pre-sentence report to be prepared, so the judge that deals with you has the best possible information about you. I’m releasing you on bail on the same conditions. You need to be back here on February 19 and all sentencing options will be open."
This case is linked to a previous incident involving Hebden’s father, Graham Hebden, who was convicted last June for a disturbing pattern of grooming and sexual harassment. During that trial, it was revealed that Graham had developed an unhealthy infatuation with one of the girls abused by his son. He had sent her hundreds of emails and text messages when she was just 14 years old, attempting to cover his tracks to avoid suspicion of grooming.
Graham Hebden’s messages included inappropriate suggestions, such as encouraging her to perform sex acts with her boyfriend and on her own, as well as sharing details about his own sex life with his wife. One message read, “Don’t want to sound like a pervert or a paedophile, but you’re looking fit.” The girl expressed her discomfort, replying, “What about it? I’m too young to talk about it, know about it.”
Graham Hebden tried to dismiss his actions by telling police he had “overstepped the mark,” despite having previously attended a child protection course, which he claimed to have forgotten. As part of his sentencing, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years.
These cases highlight a troubling pattern of misconduct involving both father and son, raising serious concerns about the safety and well-being of vulnerable young girls in the East Yorkshire area, particularly around Ulrome and Hull.
