SCOUT LEADER BANNED FOR CHILD INDECENCY CRIMES
A former Scout master named Graham Hughes has been criminally convicted and sentenced for possessing indecent images of boys aged ten to 14.He was found to have taken five counts of indecent images and possessed one additional image, although none showed actual sexual activity.
Hughes, aged 46 and residing in Amen Corner, Caunton, refused to admit guilt and declined to undergo sex offender rehabilitation.
Despite maintaining his innocence, he was convicted at Nottingham Crown Court last month and sentenced to a fine totalling £600 and ordered to pay £700 in costs.
The judge, John Milmo, also issued a lifetime ban from working with children and mandated that Hughes be registered on the Sex Offenders Register for five years.
Police had uncovered images taken at a swimming pool involving Hughes and the scouts.
The judge described the images as 'manifestly indecent' and emphasized the court's concern over Hughes's lack of remorse and trustworthiness with children, effectively ending his scouting career.
Hughes refused to accept responsibility and expressed a desire to retrieve some images, but the court ordered their destruction, stating returning them would be akin to returning firearms.
