GRAHAM CAMPBELL FROM LINNVALE SENTENCED AFTER DISCOVERY OF CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN DUMBARTON

In October 2018, Graham Campbell, a resident of Linnvale, found himself at the center of a serious criminal case involving the possession of indecent images of children. The case came before Dumbarton Sheriff Court, where Campbell faced sentencing after admitting to possessing a significant collection of such images. The investigation revealed that Campbell had been involved in this activity over a period of approximately six weeks, from September 8 to October 22, 2017, at various locations in Clydebank.

According to court reports, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Campbell’s residence. Upon arrival, Campbell cooperated with the police, allowing them entry into his home. During questioning, he admitted to the police that he had been foolish, stating, “I’ve been stupid. They are all on my phone.”

Subsequently, Campbell’s mobile device was seized and subjected to a preliminary review. This review uncovered indecent images of children stored on his phone. A comprehensive search of his property was then conducted, which included the seizure of several other electronic devices capable of accessing the internet. However, these additional items did not contain any further indecent images of children.

Further forensic analysis was carried out by Police Scotland’s cyber unit, which confirmed the presence of 50 indecent images on Campbell’s phone. All of these images depicted female children aged between five and 13 years old. The images were categorized into different severity levels: four images fell into the most serious category, fourteen into category B, and the remaining thirty-six into category C. The prosecutor presented a report detailing the nature of these images to the sheriff, although the report was not read aloud during the court proceedings.

During the sentencing, Sheriff John Hamilton emphasized the importance of protecting children from harm, stating, “This sentence is all about the protection of children.” As part of his punishment, Campbell was ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid community service. Additionally, he will be subject to supervision for a period of 12 months, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his conduct and compliance with the court’s orders.
