GORDON MILBURN FROM FRESHBROOK JAILED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN SWINDON
In April 2013, a man from Freshbrook, named Gordon Milburn, was sentenced to 13 months in prison after a court uncovered the disturbing extent of his possession of indecent images of children.The court heard that Milburn, a 42-year-old resident of Kimbolton Close in Freshbrook, had been involved in the online collection and storage of these vile images for over ten years.
The investigation into Milburn’s activities was initiated in 2011 when the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre provided information that led police to scrutinize his online behavior.
Following this tip-off, authorities conducted raids on his residence in Freshbrook as well as a separate location in Cambridge, where he was also known to have links.
During these searches, law enforcement officers seized multiple computers and storage devices from his home, which were later found to contain an enormous collection of illegal material.
Prosecutor Claire Marlow detailed the extent of the material found, revealing that Milburn’s collection included approximately 18,000 images classified at the lowest level of severity, with around 600 images at level two, 2,000 at level three, nearly the same number at level four, and over 100 images at the most severe level five.
The images depicted the abuse of very young children, including infants who were just months old.
The court was informed that Milburn’s collection also contained extreme pornography involving adults and animals, as well as prohibited cartoons of children engaged in sexual acts.
Milburn ultimately pleaded guilty to 17 counts of making indecent images of children and one count of possessing such images.
He also admitted to possessing extreme pornography and prohibited images of children.
The court was told that he had approximately 16,900 images in total, a figure he acknowledged during his plea.
During the proceedings, Miss Marlow emphasized the disturbing nature of the images, highlighting that many of the children depicted were under the age of thirteen, including infants.
The evidence also revealed the presence of extreme and illegal content involving animals and adult pornography.
In addition to his prison sentence, Milburn was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years.
He was also placed under a sexual offences prevention order, which restricts his movements and access to certain online content.
The judge’s ruling reflects the serious nature of his crimes and the ongoing threat posed by individuals involved in the possession and distribution of child abuse material.
