73-YEAR-OLD GLASGOW MAN REFUSES TO ACCEPT SEXUAL ASSAULT CHARGES AT ABERDEEN COURT
A pensioner named Gordon Hayward has appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court after admitting to touching a young girl beneath her clothing at a court session in July this year.
The incident involved him putting his hand under her clothes and touching her, which took place in 2015 at an address in Aberdeen.
The court was informed that the assault lasted between one and two minutes, initially leaving the girl confused due to her age before she became upset.
Hayward, who is 73 years old and resides in Glasgow, does not view the assault as "sexual".
During police interviews, he was reported to have made a full admission.
Despite his regret and assertion that he was "absolutely appalled," the defence noted he seemed to refuse to accept that the offence was sexual.
The judge sentenced him to a three-year community payback order with supervision, placed him on the sex offenders register for three years, and ordered him to participate in a sex offender program.
Hayward has no previous convictions for similar offences.
