ABERDEEN MAN JAILED FOR ASSAULT ON PARTNER AFTER DRUG BINGE
A man identified as Glen Mitchell has been involved in a domestic assault incident in Aberdeen.
He was found guilty of attacking his partner as she slept, following a three-day binge on drugs.
Mitchell arrived at his partner’s residence in Aberdeen in the early afternoon, shortly after which he fell asleep.
The assault occurred in the early hours of the following morning, when Mitchell punched and choked his partner, leaving her injured and hysterical.
The victim was found with bruises, swelling, and a bleeding nose.
Mitchell was traced by officers with a bleeding knuckle and admitted to carrying out the attack, although he disputed that his partner was asleep at the time.
He pleaded guilty to a charge of assault causing injury.
During sentencing, Mitchell was ordered to complete 225 hours of unpaid work, be supervised for 18 months, and stay away from his ex-partner through a five-year non-harassment order.
Additionally, a nine-month curfew was imposed, serving as an alternative to custody.
The court highlighted his limited prior convictions but acknowledged his engagement with support services for his drug use.
