GLEN MILLER FROM HUNMANBY SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS FOR ABUSING EIGHT BOYS OVER 35 YEARS IN YORKSHIRE
In a significant case that has shocked the local communities, Glen Miller, a man from Hunmanby, has been sentenced to a decade behind bars for a series of heinous crimes committed over a span of more than three decades. The court proceedings revealed that Miller was responsible for the sexual abuse of eight young boys, with incidents dating back as far as 1981 and continuing into recent years.Glen Miller, aged 55 at the time of sentencing, faced multiple charges including nine counts of sexual offences against three boys from different parts of Yorkshire. The victims included a boy from the Scarborough area in 2014, as well as two other boys from Wakefield, with abuse occurring between 1981 and 1985. The court heard that Miller had a troubling history, with prior convictions for similar offences dating back to 1990 and 1993, when he was found guilty of abusing five boys under the age of 13 in Maidstone and Walworth, respectively.
Despite denying nine sexual offences and four counts of making indecent images of children, Miller was convicted by a jury at Leeds Crown Court. The evidence presented during the trial painted a disturbing picture of a man with a long-standing pattern of predatory behaviour. The severity of his crimes and the duration over which they occurred prompted the court to impose a substantial sentence, reflecting both the gravity of his actions and the impact on his victims.
Following the sentencing, Detective Constable Sarah Walkey, who is part of the Scarborough serious crime team, issued a statement emphasizing the seriousness of Miller’s offending. She stated, “Miller’s abuse spans 35 years and the long prison sentence reflects his history of offending and the sheer gravity of his sickening crimes.” The case has once again highlighted the importance of vigilance and the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to protect vulnerable children from predators like Miller.
