MAN SENTENCED TO LIFE FOR BRUTAL WIFE MURDER IN HILLINGDON
Gibson Mazikana has been handed a life prison term after being found guilty of murdering his estranged wife, Emily Munemo, in Hillingdon.
During a hearing at Southwark Crown Court, it was stated that Mazikana, aged 41, received a sentence with a minimum of 27 years before eligibility for parole.
The murder took place on 19 August, with Ms Munemo suffering fatal stab wounds at a residence on Collingwood Road in Hillingdon.
On the same day, Mazikana was due to be sentenced for an assault on a police officer at Isleworth Crown Court, connected to a domestic dispute.
Police reports indicated that Mazikana did not appear in court and was later apprehended on 2 February.
The court was also informed that he was scheduled for sentencing for assaulting an officer when he committed the murder.
Post-mortem examinations confirmed Ms Munemo died from a stab wound to the chest.
Evidence showed that Mazikana had tried to arrange her murder through an accomplice who declined to assist.
In addition to his life sentence, Mazikana received a 12-month term for common assault and a four-week sentence for breaching bail conditions, with all sentences to run concurrently.
