BUS BEAST LOCKED UP
A SERIAL groper who committed a string of sex attacks on women travelling on buses has been jailed for three years. The incidents spanned more than three years, occurring between April 2002 and June 2005.
Sheriff Martin Jones QC handed out the lengthy jail-term when he returned to court last week and also ordered he be supervised for another two years on his release.
Wik, of Dumbarton Road, Scotstoun, was also placed on the sex offenders' list indefinitely.
Sheriff Jones told him: `These are five very serious offences involving the targeting of victims you did not know and subjecting them to degrading and disgusting assaults.` The court heard how Wik pounced on the number 62 bus, which travels from Faifley, through Clydebank and towards the city centre.
The attacks generally involved the grandfather pressing against the women and groping them over their clothing.
A total of 16 witnesses picked out security guard Wik during the trial as the pervert.
Several of his victims broke down in tears as they were forced to relive their ordeal.
One said she screamed for Wik to stop as he cupped her breasts in his hand before he opened the door and jumped off.
Wik refuted the allegations, claiming he had never seen the women in his life and had been at work or at home at the time.
The court was told that his family continues to support him despite the convictions.
Last week the Post reported how one of his alleged victims - who was too scared to go to the police at the time - claims she was groped by Wik on two separate occasions as she sat on busy buses during the rush hour.
