AYRSHIRE MENTAL HEALTH NURSE HOARDED CHILD ABUSE PICS
AN AYRSHIRE mental health worker caught hoarding child abuse images claimed he developed an interest in the sick pics after his work's paedophile monitoring training.George Nish pleaded guilty to taking or permitting to be taken or making indecent images of children at his home in Wardlaw Crescent in Loans between October 7, 2022 and September 23, 2024.
The 57-year-old also admitted to possession of the same images of children, totaling 5,860 still and 19 videos, between October 7, 2022 and October 1, 2024.
Nish told police he started collecting these images after MAPPA training, given to police, council workers, and health professionals.
He suggested his curiosity was influenced by work but maintained the images were solely his, and no one else had access.
Cybercrime analysis confirmed the possession of 5,860 still images and 19 videos, mostly of females aged 5 to 14 years.
He is facing a further Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Nish will return for sentencing at a later date.
Ayr Sheriff Court heard he said he searched social media for such images out of 'morbid curiosity' and knew this was wrong, but claimed it was not for gratification.
The court indicated serious charges and ordered further reports, a restriction of liberty order, and a risk assessment.
Nish no longer works for NHS Ayrshire and Arran.
