MCDONALD’S WORKER CAUGHT WITH MORE THAN 500 CHILD RAPE FILMS
A McDonalds worker was caught red-handed with more than 800 child abuse films.George Evans, 21, from Tredegar, was watching “horrible” videos of victims aged between one year and 10 being sexually abused.
His offending spanned five years after he started searching for the filth when he was 15.
Evans has since lost his job with McDonalds after being convicted of his crimes, Newport Crown Court was told.
Evans pleaded guilty to three counts of making an indecent photograph of a child.
The defendant had 565 images at category A, 181 at category B, and 161 at category C.
His offending occurred between July 27, 2020, and August 1 last year.
The images were found on his mobile phone.
He has no previous convictions.
Gareth Williams, representing him, said: “He has stopped doing this and reduced his internet use.
The defendant started when he was 15 after being assaulted and bullied at school.
He went down a rabbit hole.
It should never have happened and he should have reflected and stopped.
It became a horrible obsession.” Mr Williams added: “His family are supportive of him.
His mother is in court today and she doesn’t enjoy listening to any of this.
The defendant is only 21 and has his whole life ahead of him.
There is every prospect of success in his rehabilitation.” Judge Carl Harrison told Evans: “You had images of children being sexually abused in the most vile way.
You should be thoroughly ashamed for what you have done.” Evans was jailed for eight months with the sentence suspended for 18 months.
He will have to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work in the community and complete 26 sessions of an accredited programme.
Evans will also have to register as a sex offender for the next 10 years and was made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order for the same period.
He must pay a £187 victim surcharge and costs.
