GARY WHITMORE FROM WALLASEY SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES IN LIVERPOOL
In a case that has shocked the community of Wallasey and the wider Liverpool area, Gary Whitmore, aged 22, has been handed a severe prison sentence after being found guilty of multiple child sex offenses.The court proceedings revealed a disturbing history of sexual misconduct involving young girls, with Whitmore's latest crimes adding to a troubling pattern of behavior.
According to the prosecution, led by David McLachlan, Whitmore began sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl in April of the previous year.
The victim, whose identity remains protected for legal reasons, confided in her mother about the assaults in June, prompting her mother to contact the police.
The court was informed that the girl was unable to specify the exact number of times Whitmore had assaulted her, highlighting the extent of the abuse.
During police interviews, Whitmore denied the allegations, claiming that the girl was lying.
His defense did not succeed in convincing the court, which found him guilty of eight counts of sexually assaulting a child under 13 and two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a minor.
The court also learned that Whitmore had a prior conviction for indecently assaulting a 10-year-old girl when he was just 15 years old, and he was on the sex offenders’ register at the time of the recent offenses.
The sentencing was delivered by Judge David Boulton, who described Whitmore as a significant danger to children and emphasized his lack of remorse or insight into his offending behavior.
Whitmore was sentenced to an indefinite term of imprisonment for public protection, with a minimum of three years to be served before he could be considered for parole.
Additionally, the judge ordered Whitmore to sign the sex offenders’ register for life and imposed a sexual offences prevention order, which restricts him from engaging in various activities, including having unsupervised contact with minors.
This case underscores the ongoing concerns about repeat offenders and the importance of stringent measures to protect vulnerable children from predatory individuals like Gary Whitmore, whose actions have caused lasting harm to his victims and community.
