SEX ATTACKER ‘THE GIMP’ SEES APPEAL FAIL AFTER GROPING WOMAN AS SHE VISITED DYING MUM IN HOSPITAL
Gary Thompson, known as ‘The Gimp,’ was originally sentenced to nine months in prison for three sexual assaults, but last week Judge Philip Gilpin increased his sentence by three months to one year at Antrim County Court. The judge also imposed a Sexual Offences Prevention Order and a five-year restraining order.
The victim testified that she first met Thompson in her home in March of the previous year, where he groped her while wearing a pink swimsuit with his genitals exposed.
The court heard that Thompson’s brother David Thompson, a convicted killer, was also present in the room.
Thompson denied any sexual misconduct, claiming the incident was just a joke and a dance in the living room.
The court detailed evidence including photographs taken by Thompson’s fiancée, Natalie Curry, who testified that the situation escalated when Thompson groped the girl.
The victim expressed feelings of disgust and fear during the assault, which occurred in her home and later in a hospital while her mother was dying.
After her mother’s death, the victim reported the assaults to police.
Thompson has multiple convictions dating back 20 years, including 28 crimes such as assault, weapon possession, robbery, and benefit fraud.
He was also convicted of the murder of nightclub owner Nelson Cheung in 2015, who was stabbed 18 times and had his throat cut during a robbery.
Thompson was jailed for three years for robbery and aiding the killers, with his record being among the most notable in the court proceedings.
