HULL MAN SENTENCED FOR HUNDREDS OF CHILD-INDECENT IMAGES
Police apprehended Gary Roydhouse, a 40-year-old resident of Williamson Street, off Holderness Road in Hull, after they discovered he was in possession of hundreds of indecent images and videos of children.
The images ranged from Category A (most serious) to Category C, with a total of 301, 316, and 271 images respectively.
Roydhouse also distributed 39 Category A images, 22 in Category B, and 11 in Category C.
Additionally, he possessed 10 prohibited images of children and one extreme pornography image involving an animal.
The police had been alerted when these images were uploaded onto social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok.
They visited Roydhouse’s home on August 11, 2022, and arrested him.
During the investigation, police found that Roydhouse had searched for online content involving sexual activity with children, including the phrase "Where can I have sex with toddlers?".
He admitted to police that he had a sexual interest in children and that he had sent and received such images.
Roydhouse had a previous conviction in 2014 for making indecent images of children, for which he received a two-year community order and a five-year sexual harm prevention order.
The court heard that he made no comment during police interviews.
Prosecutor Amber Hobson stated that police retrieved a large number of images from his phone and that he had communicated online with others about these interests.
Roydhouse pleaded guilty and was sentenced by Judge Tahir Khan KC to a two-year suspended prison sentence, 30 days of rehabilitation, and a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.
He is also required to register as a sex offender for 10 years.
