JEALOUS MAN WHO KICKED HIS WIFE IN A RAGE OVER AFFAIR ALLEGATIONS FACES LOSING HIS HOME AFTER GETTING SACKED
A man named Gary Bennett was convicted of attacking his wife in a jealous anger. He kicked his wife, Vanessa Jones, in a fit of rage after discovering flirtatious texts between her and her boss.
The incident occurred at 11:30 pm on February 22 at their home on Park Avenue, Shelley, after they returned from a night out.
A neighbor observed an argument outside the residence, seeing Bennett push and kick his wife before she was led to safety while he called the police.
Bennett had previously contacted police himself after the assault, which involved him kicking his wife and throwing her out of the house while she was distressed and screaming.
He admitted to the magistrates that he threw his wife out following a confrontation when he checked her phone and found messages between her and her boss.
Bennett was sentenced to a two-year conditional discharge, meaning he would avoid punishment if he maintained good behavior during that period.
He also has to pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
The court acknowledged that the offence was unpleasant and understood Bennett was suffering from it.
Bennett lost his job as a chief operations officer due to the assault, and he now relies on benefits.
He and his wife continue their relationship, and she still works at the same place without issues.
Bennett expressed concern about potentially losing their home because of the guilty plea and press coverage.
He blamed the media for his personal problems, primarily for losing his job after the case was reported.
Despite his conviction, Bennett stated that "all is now well between them" and that their relationship remains intact.
