GARRY SUTHERLAND FROM HARCOMBE CHARGED WITH CRUELTY IN CHIDEOCK, DORSET
Garry Sutherland, a resident of Harcombe near Sidmouth in East Devon, was convicted of causing unnecessary suffering to a dog in a case that drew significant attention. The incident occurred on July 24, 2022, in the small Dorset village of Chideock, where Sutherland was involved in an altercation with a dog that resulted in him kicking the animal.Following a trial, Sutherland was found guilty of cruelty to the unnamed dog. During the court proceedings, he explained that his actions were motivated by a desire to protect his children and his own dog from what he claimed was an imminent attack by the dog in question. Despite his explanation, the court determined that his actions constituted unnecessary cruelty.
