Ayrshire Sexual Abuser
An incident involving a man from Ardrossan, Ayrshire, has drawn significant attention from law enforcement authorities following his arrest on serious charges related to online grooming and predatory behavior. The individual in question, Garry Allmark, aged 46, found himself at the center of a criminal investigation after he became entangled with a vigilant group operating under the banner of the Scotland Anti Predator Alliance (SAPA). This team of dedicated operatives specializes in monitoring and capturing online predators, often setting up decoys to lure individuals attempting to engage in inappropriate communications or illicit activities.

According to reports, SAPA members managed to identify Allmark while he was residing in Glasgow Street, within the town of Ardrossan. At the time, he was living with his wife and their eight-year-old son. The group meticulously tracked his online activity and eventually arranged a meeting at a location known as Harvie's, ostensibly to confront him about the disturbing messages he had been sending to one of their decoys — individuals posing as minors.

The confrontation was reportedly prompted by the discovery that Allmark had sent an explicit image, specifically a picture of a male genitalia, along with several messages to what he believed was a young girl. In addition to this, he also transmitted photographs depicting women engaged in sexual acts on themselves, under the impression that these were images of minors. The extent of his messaging was substantial enough that SAPA operatives provided law enforcement authorities with 410 pages of printed text correspondence, illustrating the abusive communication efforts.

These disturbing details came to light during a court hearing held at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, where Allmark, now residing on Burns Street in Irvine, appeared for a preliminary pre-trial session. During proceedings, he reached a plea agreement with prosecutors, which involved admitting to specific charges in exchange for the dropping of others. He pleaded guilty to charges under Sections 23 and 24(1) of the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009, which relate to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a young child and sending sexual images and videos to what he believed was an underage girl.

The charges that were dismissed alleged that Allmark tried to meet an underage girl with the intent of having a sexual encounter. Prosecutor Jo Cunningham explained that between March 30, 2018, and May 5, 2018, the accused was in contact with an individual he assumed to be a girl under 13 years of age. However, the communication was actually with SAPA operatives, who had set up the decoy to expose such dangerous behavior. After gathering evidence, including the extensive message printouts, police were alerted and subsequently arrested Allmark.

During police interviews at Saltcoats Police Station, Allmark confirmed that he believed he was conversing with a girl around 12 years old. Although he acknowledged that some of the messages had sexual content, he claimed that much of his communication did not have explicit sexual intent. Nonetheless, law enforcement officials identified this as an apparent effort to groom the young decoy, as evidenced by his sending of sexual images, including a photograph of a male penis, images of a nude woman masturbating, and photographs of himself engaging in similar acts.

Throughout the proceedings, Allmark was assisted by a sign language interpreter. Although he nodded during police interviews to confirm he had engaged in sexual conversations with the decoy and understood the illegality of his actions, he also insisted that he was 'not a paedophile.'

Sheriff Elizabeth McFarlane, presiding over the case, ordered that Allmark be placed on the Sex Offenders' Register. She also called for comprehensive background reports to be prepared prior to sentencing, which was scheduled to take place next month. The case remains ongoing as authorities continue to evaluate the full extent of Allmark’s behaviors and determine appropriate sentencing measures.
