FREDERICK ALLCHORNE FROM TIDWORTH SENTENCED TO 22 YEARS FOR YEARS OF ABUSE AND RAPE
In a harrowing case that has shocked the local community of Tidworth, Wiltshire, a man named Frederick Allchorne has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term for a series of heinous crimes committed over many years. The 62-year-old, who resided on Sycamore Close in Tidworth, was found guilty of drugging and raping his girlfriend, an abuse that spanned more than six years and began when she was just 15 years old.According to court reports, the victim, now in her 50s, finally decided to come forward in August 2018, after enduring years of silent suffering. She approached the police in Sutton to disclose the full extent of her ordeal, revealing that the abuse had started in the mid-1980s. She explained that throughout their relationship, her consent was never given, as Allchorne would administer drugs to her, rendering her unconscious and vulnerable to assault.
The victim recounted numerous instances where she would wake up to find herself restrained, often tied to the bed, with no memory of how she had ended up there. She also described being locked inside her own home on multiple occasions, effectively trapping her. One particularly frightening incident involved her waking up with her tongue rolling into the back of her throat, causing her to feel as if she was choking, which led her to seek hospital treatment. She managed to escape from Allchorne's control in September 1991.
During the police investigation, medical examinations supported her claims, indicating that drugs had likely been administered to her. A psychologist's assessment diagnosed her with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), directly linked to the prolonged abuse she endured. The physical injuries she sustained during this period have left lasting scars, both physically and mentally, affecting her daily life. She shared her ongoing struggles, explaining that her trauma influences her work at a local school. She cannot use the staff toilets because of their single-door lock, fearing she might become trapped, and instead has to use the student facilities when they are unoccupied. Her anxiety extends to her vehicle, as she constantly looks for escape routes, and she only gets into her car if she feels she can leave quickly if needed.
Despite the trauma, the victim expressed a strong belief in the importance of victims coming forward. She emphasized that speaking out is crucial for healing and justice, stating, “You have to do the right thing for yourself, because if you don’t, then it will catch up on you.”
Following a thorough trial, Frederick Allchorne was convicted and sentenced at Croydon Crown Court on Friday, February 24. He received a prison sentence of 22 years, with an additional eight years on extended licence, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the need for long-term protection of the public.
