FRANK WILLIAMS FROM ABERCWMBOI SENTENCED FOR PERVERTED ASSAULT ON PRESCHOOL GIRL IN ABERDARE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Abercwmboi near Aberdare, Frank Williams, aged 78, was found guilty of a heinous act involving a young girl.The incident, which took place during the 1990s, involved Williams indecently assaulting a preschool-aged girl by forcibly kissing her with his tongue and coercing her into keeping the act a secret.
The victim, now an adult, recounted how the trauma from this abuse has haunted her throughout her life.
Williams, described by his own legal representative as a 'difficult man,' faced a conviction for indecent assault following a trial at Cardiff Crown Court.
The presiding judge, Shoman Khan, expressed a bleak outlook on Williams' prospects for rehabilitation, stating there was a '0% prospect of rehabilitation' in his case.
The pre-sentence report was described as 'full of misogyny and bile,' highlighting the defendant's deeply troubling attitude.
During the sentencing hearing, Judge Khan addressed the court and emphasized the severity of Williams' actions.
He stated, 'You sexualized a little girl...
who thought what you were doing was normal.
The victim's statement is compelling, and the lifelong consequences for her are all too predictable.' The court was told that Williams had put on music to mask his abuse, pulled the young girl towards him, and forcibly kissed her with his tongue.
He then told her not to tell anyone, claiming it was 'our secret,' which left the victim feeling scared and confused, unsure of why she was being harmed but obeying his commands.
The victim, now an adult, provided a personal statement to the court, revealing how the abuse had profoundly affected her life.
She described suffering from nightmares, a lack of confidence, feelings of shame, and ongoing mental health struggles.
Her ability to form trusting relationships has been severely impacted, and she has sought counselling to cope with her trauma.
Her bravery in speaking out after so many years was commended by Judge Khan, who remarked that her words were unforgettable.
Addressing Williams directly, the judge criticized his lack of remorse, saying, 'If you had any decency or humility, you might have reflected on those words she said in the trial.
You might have considered whether you are the root cause of her difficulties.' Williams was sentenced to two years in prison, with the understanding that he will serve half of that sentence before being released on parole.
Additionally, he was subjected to an indefinite restraining order, a sexual harm prevention order, and will be required to register as a sex offender for the next ten years, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the community from further harm.
