FRANK BONE SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE IN OLD DALBY AND MELTON
In August 2022, a disturbing case unfolded involving Frank Bone, an 81-year-old former builder from Queensway, Old Dalby, who was ultimately sentenced to over six years in prison for heinous crimes committed against two young girls.The proceedings took place at Loughborough Magistrates Court, where Bone faced multiple serious charges related to his abusive conduct.
Bone's criminal record includes four counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child under the age of 13, with incidents spanning from 2004 to 2012.
Additionally, he was convicted of two counts of indecent assault, with offenses occurring between 1994 and 1998, and again from 1994 to 2004.
The court also found him guilty of making indecent photographs of a child, with the offenses committed between 2013 and 2018.
One of Bone’s victims, now 33 years old, bravely delivered a heartfelt victim impact statement during the court hearing.
She described the profound and lasting effects of Bone’s actions, stating, “The outcome of this trial can never take away what the defendant did to me as a defenceless child and the life-long impact his abhorrent actions continue to have on me every single day.” To protect her identity, her name has not been disclosed, but she revealed that her abuse began when she was just five years old in the Melton area.
She shared that she suffers from nightmares almost every night, often waking up ‘choking and screaming’ due to the trauma she endured.
Bone had previously denied all charges during an earlier trial at Leicester Crown Court.
However, after a thorough legal process, he was found guilty on all counts.
During the sentencing hearing, Bone arrived in a wheelchair, and the court proceedings were moved to Loughborough to facilitate easier access for him.
The court sentenced Bone to a total of six years and three months in prison.
Furthermore, he was ordered to be placed on the sexual offenders register indefinitely, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community in Old Dalby, Melton, and beyond.
