JAIL SENTENCE FOR ELWYN ROBERTS IN SWANSEA FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF YOUNG BOY
In March 2017, Elwyn Marc Roberts, of Heol Cwmmawr, Cwmavon, was sentenced to four years in prison for sexually abusing a young boy. Roberts, aged 37, had denied a single charge of sexual assault on a child under 13, but he was found guilty following a trial at Swansea Crown Court.Roberts appeared in court on Tuesday morning to be sentenced. The court was told that he had removed the boy’s trousers and engaged in sexual abuse.
Robin Rouch, representing Roberts, stated that his client maintained his innocence but acknowledged the legal process.
Judge Mervyn Hughes QC addressed Roberts, noting that the victim was at an “innocent stage of life” and did not fully understand what had happened at the time. The judge added that the child would comprehend it better as he matured.
Roberts was sentenced to four years imprisonment, and he was also ordered to be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order restricting his access to young people. Additionally, Roberts will be on the sex offenders register for life.
