ELLA DAVIES AND DANIEL REEVES: HORRIFIC CHILD ABUSE IMAGES SHOCK HOLSWORTHY AND PLYMOUTH
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the communities of Holsworthy, Plymouth, and surrounding areas, a transgender individual with a history of criminal offenses has been convicted and sentenced for possessing and creating vile images of child abuse. Ella Davies, a 36-year-old from Rothesay Gardens, Plymouth, was found to have a disturbing collection of indecent images depicting the abuse and torture of young children, including photographs that evoke significant distress and suffering.Davies’s criminal history is deeply troubling. She was previously known as Daniel Reeves and had been living in Plymouth in 2016 under her original identity when she was convicted of similar offenses. At that time, she was handed a suspended sentence for possessing indecent images of children, a penalty that she later breached. Her criminal activities and the possession of such heinous material have marked her as a repeat offender, raising serious concerns about her ongoing threat to the community.
The latest incident came to light after police raided her residence in Paignton, specifically her home in Dukes Place, on August 31, 2017. During the search, authorities seized her Samsung mobile phone, which contained a total of 1,103 images of children. Among these were particularly disturbing photographs, including one of a naked girl approximately three years old, reaching out for help with visible distress, and the word ‘Rape’ written across her body. Another image depicted a girl of about two years old being sexually assaulted by an adult male, a scene described in court as horrifying and deeply troubling.
Following her arrest, Davies was taken into custody and later appeared in Exeter Crown Court to face charges. She admitted to making and possessing indecent images of children, breaching her bail conditions, and violating her previous suspended sentence. Her actions and the images found on her device demonstrated a clear pattern of predatory behavior and a blatant disregard for the safety and well-being of vulnerable children.
Judge David Evans sentenced Davies to a term of one year and nine months in prison. Recognizing the severity of her offenses, the judge also imposed a sexual harm prevention order, which will allow authorities to monitor her future internet activity and prevent her from accessing material that could facilitate further abuse. During sentencing, Judge Evans emphasized the gravity of her crimes, stating, “You are a repeat offender, and this case is aggravated by the very young age and discernible distress of the subjects of the images. Your seeking out of these odious images contributes to the demand for them and leads to their creation, causing harm to children.”
It was noted that Davies would begin her sentence at Exeter Prison, an all-male facility, with the prison service later determining whether she would be transferred to a male or female prison. Prosecutor Mr. Tom Bradnock highlighted that Davies had previously been subjected to a two-year suspended sentence in 2016 for similar offenses, underscoring her pattern of offending. The police investigation was initiated after a raid on her residence in Paignton, where officers seized her mobile device, which contained 103 images classified as the most serious category of child abuse material. Some of these images had been downloaded just hours before her arrest, indicating ongoing criminal activity.
This case underscores the ongoing threat posed by individuals involved in the production and distribution of child abuse images and highlights the importance of vigilant law enforcement efforts to protect vulnerable children from exploitation and harm.
