In a case that has resurfaced decades after the initial incidents, Edward Pitcher, a 74-year-old man residing in Galloway Close, Turnford, was sentenced to a year in prison following his conviction on four counts of indecent assault. The court proceedings revealed a disturbing history of abuse that took place nearly forty years ago, involving a young girl who was then a schoolchild.

During the trial, it was established that the offences occurred between 1977 and 1979, when Pitcher was living in Hoddesdon. The allegations detailed how he had engaged in inappropriate behavior towards the girl, including kissing and fondling her. Some of these incidents reportedly happened in a local swimming pool, where he had rubbed himself against her, causing significant distress and trauma.
