EDWARD DAVIES FROM MADDISTON SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES IN FALKIRK
In August 2022, the Falkirk Sheriff Court heard a disturbing account of Edward Davies, a 54-year-old man from Maddiston, whose actions have left a trail of trauma among six women in the Falkirk area. The court was informed that Davies engaged in a series of sexual offences over several months, behaviors so egregious that they were described as a 'nightmare' for any woman who encountered him.
Davies appeared before Sheriff Derek Livingston last Thursday, having pleaded guilty to multiple sexual assault charges and one count of indecent communication.
The incidents in question took place between November 20, 2020, and May 18, 2021, at various locations within Falkirk.
The court was told that on one occasion, Davies pulled a woman’s bra strap and attempted to unfasten it, an act that caused significant distress.
On another occasion, he slapped a different woman on her bottom, further demonstrating his reprehensible conduct.
Sheriff Livingston did not hold back in his remarks, describing Davies as a 'nightmare' for any female in his presence.
He emphasized the severity of the offences, noting that five of the six charges were sexual in nature.
The sheriff expressed his concern that Davies seemed not to fully grasp the gravity of his actions, calling his behavior 'completely reprehensible.' As part of the court's sentence, Davies was ordered to pay a total of £2,750 in compensation to his victims.
Each of the five women he sexually assaulted was to receive £500, while the woman he communicated with indecently was to be compensated with £250.
The payments are to be made at a rate of £20 per week.
In addition to the financial penalties, Davies, who is currently employed as a delivery driver, was placed on a supervised community payback order for three years.
He is also required to complete 180 hours of unpaid work within the next two years.
Furthermore, Davies, residing at 3 Ailsa Court, Maddiston, was placed on the sex offenders register for a period of five years.
He is also mandated to attend the 'Moving Forward, Making Changes' programme, aimed at addressing his offending behavior.
