ABERDEEN MAN SLASHES DRINKING BUDDY'S NECK THEN CALLS EMERGENCY
An Aberdeen man named Edward Clark, aged 61, assaulted his drinking companion, Jason Duncan, aged 53, by slashing him across the forehead and neck with a blade at Mr Duncan's residence in Middle Brae, Aberdeen. The attack occurred on December 10 last year after an evening of drinking, during which Clark became angry and aggressive over losing money and a mobile phone.
The next morning, Clark believed Duncan had taken money from him and armed himself with a knife.
A struggle ensued when Duncan attempted to take the knife from Clark, who then struck him.
Clark then voluntarily called emergency services, telling the operator that there was 'blood everywhere' and admitting to the police that he had hurt Duncan.
Duncan sustained a four-centimetre laceration to his neck and a 15-centimetre wound to his forehead, which required 17 stitches.
Clark, who has a lengthy criminal record with 64 previous convictions, was remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced on March 20 at the High Court in Glasgow.
The judge noted that Clark had been released from prison on licence at the time of the attack, and a background report is to be prepared before sentencing.
