LANARKSHIRE MAN JAILED FOR INTRUSION AND VIOLENT DISTURBANCES
A Lanarkshire woman got the fright of her life when she was woken by a partially-undressed intruder. The woman was sleeping in her bedroom when intruder Dylan McSkimming told her he was hiding from the police and refused to leave her home in Blantyre.
In a terrifying moment, he then went into another bedroom where a child was sleeping before finally agreeing to leave when the victim offered to drive him away.
McSkimming, 23, appeared from custody at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week.
He admitted threatening or abusive behaviour at a house in Parkville Drive and two other Blantyre addresses on June 21, reports Lanarkshire Live.
The court heard McSkimming was a complete stranger but he gained entry to the woman's house via the front door after interfering with the locking mechanism.
He accepted that his behaviour caused her fear and alarm.
At the time he insisted there were police officers outside the house waiting for him.
Another disturbing incident happened in Springwell Crescent.
McSkimming, again in a state of undress, crept into a house and shouted abuse at two male and female occupants.
He refused to leave and threatened them with violence.
The third disturbance took place at a house in Elm Street.
McSkimming kicked the front door until it opened and went inside, shouting and swearing at a man who lived there.
He threw household items around, smashed a window and damaged a microwave oven and a television.
Sheriff Louise Gallacher deferred sentence until next month for background reports and remanded him in custody.
McSkimming has a long criminal record and was jailed earlier this year after a disturbance in Blantyre in which a police officer's finger was broken.
