DRAGOS RAZVAN VACARIU FROM STANMORE SENTENCED FOR ATTEMPTED RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT

A man from Stanmore has been formally convicted and sentenced for serious sexual offenses, including attempted rape and sexual assault. The individual, identified as Dragos Razvan Vacariu, aged 28, residing on Portland Crescent, faced justice at Wood Green Crown Court. On Friday, July 19, he received a prison sentence of eight years, with the possibility of an additional two-year extension, reflecting the severity of his crimes.

The incident in question occurred in May 2022, when a woman in her 30s, walking alone in the area, encountered a distressing situation. She managed to flag down a passing motorist on Morley Crescent, Stanmore, and disclosed that she had been assaulted by an unknown stranger. Her brave decision to seek help was crucial in initiating the police investigation.

Law enforcement officers responded promptly to her report. After gathering her account, police officers conducted a search in the vicinity and quickly identified a suspect matching the description provided by the victim. The suspect was located nearby, in possession of two mobile phones, one of which was confirmed to belong to the victim. This evidence led to the arrest of Dragos Razvan Vacariu, who was taken into custody for questioning.

Detective Constable Roy Hussain, who led the investigation, expressed his thoughts on the case. He described Vacariu as a sexual predator responsible for a terrifying attack on a woman simply walking home from her workplace. He praised the victim for her bravery throughout the investigation and court proceedings, emphasizing that her courage played a vital role in bringing the case to a successful conclusion. Detective Hussain expressed hope that the sentencing would provide the victim with the closure she deserves and serve as a warning to others about the consequences of such heinous acts.
